Enhanced means that the particular sub-category is aligned with the Express Entry system. The federal government uses the Express Entry system to manage permanent residence applications through Canada’s main economic class immigration programs.
The majority of Nova Scotia’s immigration streams are base streams. This means that they are not aligned with the Express Entry system. Candidates who get a provincial nomination are required to apply directly to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC).
Skilled Worker Stream
Nova Scotia Skilled Worker Stream Program is a streamlined process that is open to skilled immigrants whose skills are wanted in Nova Scotia. The program provides an opportunity to skilled immigrants to obtain their permanent residency from Canada in a few months.
- Receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Nominee Program within the Express Entry system;
- submit your application within 30 calendar days of the date on which your letter of interest was issued
- meet the minimum work experience requirements of the Express Entry stream for which you have qualified;
- demonstrate sufficient funds to successfully establish yourself and your family in Nova Scotia and to pay your immigration costs and travel expenses;
- have legal status in your current country of residence;
- meet eligibility criteria in place at the time you are issued a Letter of Interest; and have a valid Express Entry number and meet all IRCC criteria for the Express Entry pool.
Physicians Stream
Nova Scotia has one of the lowest ratios of physicians in Canada. In response, Nova Scotia has decided to launch Physicians Stream for Immigrants to help solve the shortage by attracting and retaining doctors from around the globe in the province.
Entrepreneur Stream
Nova Scotia’s Entrepreneur Stream is for experienced business owners or senior business managers who want to live in Nova Scotia. The program will allow the entrepreneurs with the potential to create jobs and contribute to the economy in Nova Scotia, to immigrate and obtain a permanent residency from Canada.
International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream program is for individuals who have recently graduated from a Nova Scotia university or a community college. The program attracts international graduate students who have completed their studies or post-graduate work and who may be considering staying in Nova Scotia permanently.
Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry
The Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Program for Immigrants is designed to help attract educated and skilled immigrants to the province. It does so by inviting people who have successfully applied to the Express Entry pool, which is a list of candidates who have enough points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

The Nova Scotia Experience is a program designed to attract skilled workers with the potential for entrepreneurial success in Nova Scotia from all around the world to fill the labour market demands and grow innovative, export-based businesses.
